The Boy Who Pooped

Here is the first installment as I slowly drag posts out of my Word Press Archives. Links and pictures to come. I hope to get at least one entry up a day until I'm caught up.

Hubby and I are huge Harry Potter fans. Not “let’s get dressed up as wizards and go to a convention” fans, but avid readers of all the books. Two years ago, when Harry Potter 6 came out, Hubby and I got the book at noon and stayed up until 4 AM reading together. We were exhausted by the end, but it was worth it. I remember speculating about where we would be when the seventh book came out, wondering if we would be able to pull another marathon all-nighter.

Yesterday, after much anticipation, Harry Potter 7, the final installment, arrived. We can’t wait to see how JK Rowling wraps up this series and we are staying away from any spoilers until we both finish reading (or listening to the audio book). However, we had another Harry arrive this week who has eclipsed even “the boy who lived.”

Named for two of his great-grandfathers and four of his great-great uncles, Harry Joseph arrived on Monday, July 16, a scant 6 hours and 48 minutes after his due date. I think his punctuality bodes well for his future career as an orchestra librarian. He already has his own color-coded binder for his feeding schedule and doctor’s records: a promising start, for sure. Also, by waiting to arrive until after we moved and unpacked, he shows the discipline and timing of a great concert artist. His lungs are fantastic, which means he could also be an opera singer. He has giant hands and long legs, so he could be a bass player, like his Daddy. However, he likes to revel in his dirty diapers and protests vigorously when you try to change him, so we may have a conductor on our hands. Then again, his large head size indicates a big brain, so we’re hoping conductor and viola player are not options.

No matter what he decides to do, it is sure to be an amazing journey full of magic, mystery and lots of very late nights. We’ll be exhausted, but it will be worth it.

Things to Come

I'm moving all my Harry related posts from my music blog to my new Blogger account. Stay tuned. The transfer may take a bit.
